The Somatic Oracle Society is one of the best places I’ve found to feel great in my body, and use my mind to reinforce that feeling through the improvisational nature of the class. Jack is an excellent leader – compassionate, caring, funny, smart – and has designed a class that provides excitement, safety, and connectedness. I particularly like how each class has a structure, but are vastly different based on the modules that the group lands on by roll of a die. Jack expertly guides the class through the various modules which are designed to reprogram how we might view the body. I suffer from chronic pain, and find these classes offer a new perspective on healing through movement and working with others. I would recommend this to everyone – it’s a great time!

I always have a wonderful experience when Jack is leading an embodied practice, and the Somatic Oracle Society class I attended was no different. I love the spontaneity and the simultaneous structure/non-structure that accompanies each roll of the dice (literally). I experience permission to move my body in ways that I don’t typically allow and the container that Jack creates is wonderful. This class is truly unique and ever changing depending on the attendees, the roll of the dice, and everything in-between. Truly a way to experience life in a new and different way with new perspectives and permission to do so in a contained way.

The Somatic Oracle Society is so out of my comfort zone yet I find myself there fully invested and really putting in the effort. I am not limber, graceful or light on my feet but Jack works with that and sees your strengths and provides support. The support becomes empowering and you find strength in others to help you through the process. I made connections in the class in the most unexpected ways (tinnitus . . . what are the chances). Jack can take the image you present and naturally sees the movement in it and directs you to find it and feel it. Honestly I enter the class with no idea of what to expect and that is part of the beauty of it. Each individual provides a piece which quickly becomes a whole. It is a safe place and that can be difficult to find in today’s world. You will smile, laugh, make connections and provide yourself with some self care.

Todd, it means a lot to me that you trust me to create a safe space, and I hope you will keep coming back and building on these wonderful gains. – Jack

Jack is an incredible and effective teacher. He has a “principle approach” to teaching versus a “rule-based” approach to teaching which allows us students to express and create from our true Self. The environment and space he holds creates a safe & supportive environment to explore ways to break thru barriers of limitations and achieve higher levels of freedom and artistry. I highly recommend working with Jack in whatever capacity you are willing.

Where do I start? Jack would say “start with where you feel it,” which never fails. About 10 years ago, I ventured off for a 6 month solo backpacking trip throughout Europe. Through the design of the Universe, I ended up at a dance retreat, which I never imagined I would be involved in. The class was centered around transendental meditation and choreography. It changed my life. I never thought I would find anything like it in the States (I looked but nothing quite fit). Enter this experience (not a class). It’s not “hippy” which no offense I just wasn’t looking for. I wanted something based on tangible results. It can feel a little intimidating at first, but starting where it feels leads to what is like therapy for the body. And the body is definitely a reflection of the mind/spirit I’ve learned. I leave feeling more excited about life, and like I know myself a little more every time. It’s also fun. It’s okay to laugh, and you don’t have to know anything about dancing. And you don’t have to have a dancer’s body…any age any condition just bring what you have because it’s enough and exactly what you need. Anyhow, if you are questioning it, do it. That’s your heart. Start with that…you won’t regret it! – CE, Physician Associate

Coming into this Saturday class, I didn’t know what to expect. I had never participated in a movement or dance class before. It is so much more than that and I am glad I went. The class is not a structured event, and what material you are working from depends on the dice that are rolled. Jack is an excellent teacher, and no matter how far out of your comfort zone you feel, he will bring you back into the connectedness of the group. There are no rights or wrongs regarding movement. Just go with what you feel. It is a great experience and one I look forward to on Saturdays now. I will warn you, it is so fun and engaging, that the time will fly by. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You’ll enjoy it.
